This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") supplements the Terms of Service. It applies to anyone who uses Hugo's websites, applications, integrations, AI features, and automations (collectively, the "Services"). Capitalized terms used here match the Terms unless defined below.
1. Purpose
Hugo is built for teams to run operations — mail, tasks, calendar, files, workflows, and AI-assisted actions. We expect use that respects the law, other people's rights, and the stability of the platform.
2. Prohibited conduct
You must not use the Services to:
- Violate applicable law or regulation, or infringe intellectual property or privacy rights.
- Send unsolicited bulk email or spam, or deploy deceptive, fraudulent, or phishing content — including through AI drafts or automated workflows you configure.
- Harass, threaten, defame, or discriminate against individuals or groups; distribute illegal or exploitative content (including content involving minors).
- Probe, scan, or attack Hugo, our suppliers, or third parties; bypass authentication; abuse credentials or tokens; or attempt to access data outside your authorized workspace.
- Reverse engineer or scrape the Services in ways that violate the Terms, overload infrastructure, or extract bulk data without authorization.
- Use the Services to develop or train general-purpose foundation models on Hugo outputs or customer content without our written permission.
3. Automation, integrations, and acting on your behalf
When you connect integrations (email, calendar, cloud storage, workflow triggers, etc.) or enable AI or automation, Hugo may send messages, read or write customer data you have access to, or trigger workflows only within the scope you authorize. You remain responsible for:
- Configuring permissions, approvals, and safeguards appropriate for your organization.
- Reviewing consequential actions (for example outbound mail or financial operations) before they run, where the product allows.
- Compliance with laws that apply to your industry (regulated sectors, marketing rules, employment law, etc.).

4. Enforcement
We may investigate suspected violations and may suspend or terminate access, remove content, or restrict features as described in the Terms. Serious abuse may be reported to authorities where required by law.
